A Beautiful Weekend, a Wonderful Conference

All the flowers in bloom and their reflections made the Hudson River Valley look like a giant impressionist painting Friday and Saturday April 29 and 30. AMHF, along with Marist College School of Management, sponsored the Conference “Small Family Business, Big Family Stress” at the Dutchess Country Club in Poughkeepsie, New York.

On Friday night owners of family businesses in the Hudson Valley got to meet with each other as well as talk with the presenters, Dr. Pamela Carlson Alexander and Dr. James Campbell Quick.

On Saturday everyone heard presentations by Drs. Alexander and Quick. There were some very productive and amiable discussions on topics such as handling sibling rivalries, setting boundaries, and the complicated questions arising when family businesses transition to subsequent generations.

We hope that participants learned some new approaches to make family businesses less stressful, more productive and more successful–staying in good shape, to be passed on and continued by future generations in the family.
